40 Breeder Aquarium with Slate Rock Background Build Journal
This desert vivarium was designed using the Slate Rock Background you can find here. It was dropped into a 40 gallon 'breeder' size terrarium with a screen mesh lid. I started off by flexing the background to get it into the terrarium past the trim. Next I cut the excess off the top that would stick out and keep the lid from closing. Then I applied a small amount of canned spray foam to the edges and sides. This helped to glue the background in permanently.
I filled the bottom with the clay LECA pellets and placed my cacti and succulents into them, while still in their cups, until I liked the arrangement. Then added a layer of sandy desert-like soil, brushed some onto the background, and added the lights.
